FEATURED: COMPASS 2030 - Leave no one behind

For as long as development policy has existed, it has had its critics. Welthungerhilfe is among those who scrutinize the government's development policy, conducting an annual review of goals and actual results.

The global community set new goals in 2015, with the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) . These goals go far beyond the previous Millennium Development Goals, as they expect even industrialized countries to undergo a sustainability test and set targets. After all, those countries are especially far away from a sustainable economy, and this includes Germany.

This led Welthungerhilfe to create a new format, Compass. This year, Compass points to the guiding principle of the 2030 Agenda: no one left behind! To this end, five key areas of policy are identified where action must be taken if the SDGs are to be met on time.

On this basis, challenges and new requirements are derived for development cooperation. This results in demands and new requirements for development cooperation.
