Joachim von Braun

Joachim von Braun studied agricultural sciences in Bonn and was awarded a doctorate from the University of Göttingen for his thesis on food security in developing countries. After various periods conducting research in Africa, Russia and China, he was appointed Director of the Center for Development Research (ZEF) at the University of Bonn in 1997. He currently heads the Center’s Department for Economic and Technological Change. He became Vice-President of the German NGO Welthungerhilfe in 2012.
